Kenneth E Adams
My name is Kenneth Edward Adams, I am an artist by serendipity, my photography owes as much to the history of art and my artistic expertise as it does to photography.
I am a Fine Arts, honours graduate in painting. In a small, impoverished Northland town, I was drawn to Art by my teacher, Selwyn Wilson. Later at the Elam School of Fine Arts, I was introduced to French and Italian painting by my lecturers Garth Tapper and Colin McCahon. Inspired by McCahon and Tapper, I began a personal odyssey into French and Italian painting. In art museums and journeys in France, all my photographs are to be found in the context in French painting. In Arles, I discovered the remnants of that brief, pivotal moment when Vincent Van Gogh discovered the Van Gogh the world knows today. In Nice, during a visit to the Matisse Museum, I came face to face with a collection of studio paraphernalia, minor artworks and his artistic philosophy.
