L'amour de la France
ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Graduating from the Elam School of Fine Arts with honours in Painting, I was encouraged to study the work of the ‘Old Masters’ by my professors, Garth Tapper and Colin McCahon. Regular visits to France have given me first-hand experience of French, Italian and Dutch artistic traditions and the inspiration to make my own work; I am inspired by landscapes that have been sketched, painted or photographed by artists for hundreds of years.
I became an artist photographer by serendipity. My work owes as much to my artistic expertise as it does to photography. My photographs assume various forms, some enigmatic. The works in this exhibition are quintessential landscapes which have evolved in my imagination; these multifaceted photographs are visual paradigms for my experiences.
All photographs are studio-printed in limited editions using archival inks and printed on premium grade, lustre photographic paper.
